Geordie Night at tynefolk

Geordie Night - Jim Mageean

Ham 'n Pease Puddin' stotties followed by Singin' Hinnies were the order of the day when Brian Watson, Eddie Stewart and Jim Mageean presented an evening of Geordie songs and verses at tynefolk's first Guest Evening of February 2011.

Brian started the proceedings in his usual inimitable way with an array of songs including Row upon the Stairs, Petticoat Regiment, The've gone and left the Toon and Send your kids to School.

How do you follow that? Well, Eddie Stewart of course, who continued the theme with some of his own compositions, as well as some classic songs of the region, including I saw, Howay the Lads and Wooden Dolly.

And finally, Jim Mageean gave us Wor Nannies a Mazer, I wish they'd do it now, Dance to thy Daddy and The Common Market among others.

The evening was rounded off with the three guests joining on stage for a rousing rendition of Blaydon Races.

It was a great evening made even more memorable by a traditional supper of the Ham 'n Pease Puddin' stotties and Black Puddin' accompanied by Joyce Macleod and Elaine Stewart's Singin' Hinnies. Champion!

A really great night's entertainment made even better by the friendly atmosphere which always pervades at tynefolk.
